This award recognises a clean energy company that has secured the largest single allocation of green hydrogen capacity in India’s SECI auction, a nation‑defining tender under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. On 30 January 2025, Waaree Clean Energy Solutions received a Notification of Award to set up a 90,000‑tonne‑per‑annum green hydrogen production facility, the highest capacity awarded to any bidder and more than double the size of the runner‑up‘s allocation. The project, part of the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) scheme, is backed by incentives exceeding ₹510 crore and will establish a fully integrated ecosystem for green hydrogen and its derivatives, including green ammonia and other e‑fuels. By deploying alkaline electrolyser technology supported by a 300‑MW manufacturing facility in Gujarat—soon to be expanded to 1 GW—Waaree is building not just a production plant but a domestic value chain that reduces import dependence and positions India as a global hub for green hydrogen.

Beyond its record‑scale infrastructure, the company’s commitment to decarbonisation extends to industrial application. The green hydrogen produced will serve hard‑to‑abate sectors such as fertilisers, refining and heavy transport, directly displacing fossil‑based hydrogen and reducing emissions at the point of use. By winning and actively developing the largest production facility in India’s first competitive green hydrogen auction, Waaree has demonstrated that industrial‑scale renewable hydrogen is not a distant ambition but a bankable, near‑term reality.
