NEOM Green Hydrogen Company (NGHC)

This award recognises NGHC for advancing the world's largest commercial-scale green hydrogen plant from concept to near-operational status. By mid-2025 the project reached 80% construction completion across all sites — integrating a 4 GW solar-wind hybrid power plant, a dedicated transmission grid, over 5.6 million solar panels and 250+ wind turbines — reaching 90% by December 2025. Financial close was secured at US$8.4 billion, with US$6.1 billion in non-recourse project financing from 23 banks. At full operation, the plant will produce up to 600 tonnes of carbon-free hydrogen daily, exported as up to 1.2 million tonnes of green ammonia per year under an exclusive 30-year offtake agreement with Air Products — preventing an estimated five million tonnes of CO₂ annually. NGHC provides a bankable, replicable blueprint for the global hydrogen economy. For operationalising green hydrogen at the scale required to matter for decarbonisation, NGHC receives this recognition.

The NGHC project marks a structural inflection point for the global hydrogen economy: a single facility integrating renewable power generation, transmission infrastructure, electrolysis, ammonia synthesis and a long-term offtake agreement under one bankable financing structure. Its replication potential across the MENA region and beyond is significant, offering resource-rich markets a template for converting renewable energy abundance into exportable, zero-carbon fuel at a price and scale that can displace grey hydrogen in global industrial supply chains. For establishing that blueprint, NGHC receives this recognition.
