Netafim

This award recognises Netafim for advancing precision irrigation as a dual solution to water scarcity and agricultural emissions. In July 2025, the Orbia Precision Agriculture business marked its 60th year of innovation, having pioneered drip irrigation since 1965 and grown to serve farmers across 110 countries with technology that reduces water use by 25 to 50% and fertiliser use by 30 to 40% compared with traditional methods.

Over the preceding year the company launched GrowSphere, a digital farming operating system, and introduced new dripper technology—milestones that extend its ability to help farmers grow more with fewer resources and a lower carbon footprint. Crucially, Netafim has connected precision irrigation directly to climate mitigation through a carbon credit programme that leverages drip technology to both save water and reduce emissions, supported by digital tools that log irrigation, fertiliser and energy use for verification and traceability.

By cutting the energy required for pumping and the emissions associated with over-application of inputs, and by partnering with governments, development banks and food companies on community irrigation projects, Netafim turns water efficiency into a measurable decarbonisation lever for global agriculture. For making precision irrigation a verifiable climate solution, Netafim receives this recognition.
