GE Vernova

Leadership in Heat Decarbonisation

This award recognises GE Vernova for its role electrifying and decarbonising a global energy system that depends on its technology for roughly a quarter of the world's electricity. In its sustainability reporting through 2025, the company disclosed a 51% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions from 2019 to 2024 and set targets of carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and 2 by 2030 and net zero across its value chain by 2050. Having ceased taking orders for new coal plants since 2020, GE Vernova is concentrating its portfolio on wind, gas, nuclear and the grid technologies—including GridOS software and hydrogen-ready turbines—needed to integrate renewables and meet surging electricity demand.

In 2025, GE Vernova advanced a series of landmark projects, from supplying a hydrogen-ready 9HA turbine to the UK's Net-Zero Teesside carbon-capture power project to expanding wind and grid orders across Europe, North America and the Middle East, supported by a planned USD 9 billion R&D investment through 2028. Its HA gas turbine fleet, capable of blending up to 50% hydrogen and pairing with carbon capture, offers customers a pathway to decarbonise dispatchable power.

By helping other sectors connect to and decarbonise through a modernised grid, GE Vernova has positioned itself at the centre of the electrification supercycle. For enabling the electrification and decarbonisation of the global power system, GE Vernova receives this recognition.
