Climate Analytics

Leadership in Climate Policy Research

This award recognises a Berlin‑based think tank that serves as the world’s most authoritative tracker of national climate ambition and action. As the lead operator of the Climate Action Tracker, Climate Analytics provided the critical 2025 update released at COP30 in Belém, revealing that global warming projections have stalled for the fourth consecutive year, with none of the 40 analysed governments having strengthened their 2030 targets. Its flagship State of Climate Action 2025 report, produced jointly with the Bezos Earth Fund and World Resources Institute, delivered a sobering assessment: not one of the 45 indicators of climate action is on track for 2030.

By providing the science‑based scorecard that leaves no country – or sector – able to hide from the ambition gap, Climate Analytics has made itself indispensable to the UNFCCC process, from IPCC AR7 contributions to the second Global Stocktake. Beyond its global assessments, Climate Analytics distinguished itself in 2025 through deep engagement with the most climate‑vulnerable nations. Its Caribbean team published landmark resilience reports and adaptation finance analyses at COP30, while its briefing paper on Global Goal on Adaptation indicators gave Small Island Developing States the evidence base to negotiate for indicators that truly reflect their existential needs. By turning rigorous science into actionable diplomacy, this organisation has proven that think tanks can be not just observers of policy but architects of climate justice. For holding the world accountable to 1.5°C and amplifying the voices of those on the front line, Climate Analytics receives this recognition.
