This award recognises a carbon removal startup that transformed an orphaned oil well in Central Louisiana into a permanent storage site for bio‑oil. In September 2025, Charm secured its first Class V injection permit, repurposed an abandoned well, and unlocked over 500,000 tonnes of additional storage capacity—all while turning agricultural and forestry residues into a stable liquid that solidifies underground for centuries. This Louisiana expansion, the company’s fourth US state, proves that legacy fossil infrastructure can be redeployed for durable carbon removal.

Beyond that single well, Charm became the only carbon credit provider verified under two different CCP‑labelled protocols (bio‑oil and biochar), a distinction achieved in 2025. With pre‑purchase agreements from Frontier, Microsoft, Google, Capgemini and Boeing, the startup delivered over 5,000 tonnes of permanent removals and demonstrated a credible path toward $200 per tonne. For turning biomass waste into a geologically bankable carbon sink, Charm Industrial receives this recognition.
