Agreena
Leadership in Soil Carbon
This award recognises Agreena for achieving the first large-scale verification of a soil carbon project under Verra’s VM0042 methodology for arable cropland. In September 2025, the AgreenaCarbon Project was verified under the world’s most rigorous carbon standard, beginning the issuance of 2.3 million Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) from 1.6 million hectares of regeneratively farmed land across Europe. Independent assessments in 2025 further reinforced the project’s credibility, awarding Agreena a top‑tier MSCI Carbon Project rating and a pre‑rating from BeZero Carbon, while SustainCERT validated its Scope 3 decarbonisation pathway for corporate supply chains.
By combining field‑level data, AI‑powered advisory tools, and a transparent economic model that returns up to 85% of carbon credit revenues to farmers, Agreena has built the infrastructure for verified soil carbon at continental scale.
The company now supports 2,500 farmers across 20 countries, covering nearly five million hectares, and has distributed over €15 million to participating farms. For transforming regenerative agriculture from a niche practice into a bankable, verifiable climate solution, Agreena receives this recognition.
