NLC India Limited
Leadership in Wind-Solar Hybrid Energy
This award recognises a state-owned enterprise that is driving India’s clean energy transition through large‑scale hybrid renewable infrastructure. In July 2025, NLC India Ltd secured a Letter of Award from NTPC to develop a 450 MW Inter‑State Transmission System (ISTS)‑connected wind‑solar hybrid power project, to be executed in two locations: 300 MW in Bikaner, Rajasthan and 150 MW in Bhuj, Gujarat.
The project, part of NTPC’s competitive bidding process to procure 1,200 MW of hybrid power, will supply electricity under a 25‑year Power Purchase Agreement, with power delivery scheduled to commence within 24 months. Designed to achieve a minimum annual capacity utilisation factor of 30 %, the hybrid model ensures that grid stability is maintained while maximising the complementary generation patterns of wind and solar resources.
Beyond this landmark award, NLC India is strategically expanding its renewable footprint. With the 450 MW project, the company’s total hybrid capacity will reach 600 MW, complementing an existing 150 MW SECI hybrid project in Gujarat. NLC India aims to achieve 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, a nearly seven‑fold increase from its 2024 baseline, and is already on track to exceed that target.
By converting a traditionally lignite‑focused portfolio into a clean energy leader, NLC India demonstrates that legacy energy companies can be agents of rapid decarbonisation. For its demonstrable commitment to scaling hybrid renewables and aligning with India’s net‑zero goals, NLC India Ltd receives this recognition.
